FUMIKO NAGAI (b. 1970)
Fumiko is a studio potter who makes functional ware such as dishes, cups, bowls, and vases by throwing clay on a Japanese-style-non-electric kick wheel. She first trained as an apprentice to Takashi Nakazato who comes from an unbroken line of family potters dating back to the late 1300s. From 2011 till 2014, she worked as his assistant. They have traveled to many locations in over ten countries to participate in workshops and demonstrations, and to make their own ceramic pieces.
Fumiko graduated with a degree in liberal arts from International Christian University in Tokyo.
